Helfenburk is among the largest and most striking ruins in this batch — not a single wall but a wide site hidden in forest. Cars can stop at a free meadow car park about a kilometre below the castle on a maintained forest road. For the VIVIEN approach, do not drive "for a quick look": from Bavorov a marked walk of about 7 km one way leads to the castle. 🔴 The site has uneven ground and the manager explicitly warns that visitors with reduced mobility need assistance inside.
