An artificial retention pond linked to the Schwarzenberg canal lies on Medvědí stezka; the shorter Ovesná–Jelení variant is about 7 km — a quieter Šumava tip where the way matters as much as the goal.
Jelení jezírko is not a glacial lake but part of the Schwarzenberg navigation canal landscape: a retention pond to increase water for timber floating. It lies on Medvědí stezka, which Nová Pec calls the oldest educational trail on Šumava. The full Ovesná–Černý Kříž route is about 14 km; the shorter Ovesná–Jelení about 7 km and 1 h 45 min. 🔴 Car access matters: the road Nová Pec–Jelení Vrchy is permanently closed to normal motor vehicles.
