Jezero Laka

The smallest and highest Šumava glacial lake is a quieter goal for guests who accept a longer walk — the official route from Železná Ruda is 14 km and about 4.5 hours.
Laka is not a lake you step out of the car and reach in twenty minutes. NP administration from Železná Ruda gives 14 km, about 450 m ascent and high difficulty; the longer loop from Prášily is 18 km. The longer approach makes it calmer and less showy than Černé jezero.

- Choose one official variant beforehand and do not shortcut through protected land.
- If starting from Prášily, check the state of the Gsenget road repair before leaving.
- At the lake allow a pause — the journey is a large part of the experience.
