Glacial lake below Plechý reached by a long forest approach; from Nová Pec part of the way follows the Schwarzenberg canal, so one goal can become a full Šumava day.
Plešné jezero lies at 1,090 m below the cliff wall of Plechý. From Nová Pec the municipality gives a walk of about 9 km to the lake; part runs along the Schwarzenberg canal. The lake is year-round accessible on marked trails but that does not mean an easy winter trip — snow and mountain conditions apply. 🔴 You cannot simply "shorten" access to Jelení Vrchy by car: the road Nová Pec–Jelení Vrchy has since 1 Jul 2024 been permanently closed to normal motor vehicles with listed exceptions.

- Start in Nová Pec and stay on the marked trail to the lake.
- On the canal section pause at the technical monument instead of only "ticking" the lake.
- At the lake stay on marked paths; return the same way or continue only on legal marked variants towards Plechý.
